2012 Child of the Year Contest 

ArSHA is once again looking for a Child of the Year to represent those with speech, language and/or hearing disorders within our state. The role of the Arizona Child of the Year is to heighten Arizona's awareness of communication disorders and the work that is being done to improve the lives of those who live with these challenges.  Please consider submitting a nomination for that special child whose remarkable speech/language/hearing journey has been an inspiration to all.  

The Arizona Speech-Language-Hearing Association Annual Convention will be held Friday and Saturday, April 20-21, 2012 at the Desert Willow Conference Center in Phoenix, Arizona.  At that time, the Child of the Year recipient will be announced. 

Guidelines for selection of the 2012 Child of the Year are listed below.  The entry form can be found on the ArSHA website by clicking on the Convention link.  Please consider the children you know and submit a nomination for this award.  Your input is very important to ArSHA's efforts to promote public awareness.

Guidelines:
1. Child must be sponsored by ArSHA member(s). 
2. Child must be between 3 and 18 years of age. 
3. Child must have a speech, language and/or hearing impairment and have received treatment for such impairment. 
4. Child must be agreeable to public appearances and to having his/her photo taken. 
5. Parent or guardian must agree to accompany the child to public appearances. 
6. All entries become the property of the Child of the Year Committee, and all decisions of the Committee are final.   
7. ArSHA cannot guarantee that any specific prizes will be awarded to the Child of the Year or his/her family.
8. Nominations should be received no later than March 20, 2012.

It is that time of year to begin the nomination process for ArSHA Honors and Awards to be presented at the 2012 ArSHA Convention on April 20-21, 2012.  We have so many outstanding audiologists and speech-language pathologists in the state that make significant contributions to our profession through their work and support of the Arizona Speech, Language, and Hearing Association.  Please take time to look the awards over and think of your co-workers who most qualify.
  1. HONORS OF THE ASSOCIATION:  The highest honor given by ArSHA to a current, active ArSHA member, in recognition of Meritorious service to ArSHA and the profession.
  2. MARILYN QUINTANA MOLINE MENTORSHIP AWARD:  This award recognizes a current, active ArSHA member, who best exemplifies the qualities of a mentor.
  3. AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT:  Awarded to those who have made outstanding and sustained contributions to the profession of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, but who are not members or part of the profession.
