We have all heard that there is “strength in numbers.” As I continue to gain experience in life, and collaborate on various projects, I have come to recognize the wisdom and truth in those words. We truly do find strength in working together. As ArSHA members we have the opportunity to contribute toward the progress of our professions by serving on the executive board, committees, attending sponsored events, and by simply maintaining our individual membership.

As an association, ArSHA has continued to collaborate with organizations and agencies of like mind to further our mission to improve communication for all. This summer we had the opportunity to collaborate with Northern Arizona University and the Arizona Department of Education to offer a free workshop on leadership and innovative intervention approaches. In addition, we maintain our relationship with the Arizona Occupational Therapy Association and the Arizona Physical Therapy Association in what is known as the Tri-Alliance. We are tackling many issues that impact our various professions including Medicaid reimbursement and early intervention services. These relationships have allowed us to accomplish much more than we could alone and we will continue to seek opportunities to further these efforts.

In the spirit of collaboration and unity, ArSHA has adopted “Promoting Partnerships in Practice” as our 2012 convention theme. The convention committee is actively seeking presentations on co-treatment, working with support personnel, and collaborative service delivery. We recognize that we have much to learn from our colleagues and they in turn have much to learn from us. We invite you to reserve April 20th and 21st to participate in the 2012 convention. Please invite your colleagues and consider sharing your expertise by presenting.

We appreciate your continued support of ArSHA and look forward to strengthening our association for the future.
