AWARDS TO CONSIDER
HONORS OF THE ASSOCIATION
The highest honor given by ArSHA to a current ArSHA member, in recognition of sustained and meritorious service to ArSHA and in any one or more of the following areas: 1) research and publications contributing basic or applied knowledge needed by the profession; 2) teaching in communication science and disorders; 3) clinical service to adults and/or children with communicative disorders; 4) service to ArSHA, ASHA, and/or other professional national, state, regional or local organizations and 5) mentorship.
AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT
Awarded to those who are not members or part of the profession, but who have made outstanding and sustained contributions to the professions of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.
MOLINE MENTORSHIP AWARD
In memory of Marilyn Quintana Moline (a Past President of ArSHA), the purpose of this award is to recognize a current ArSHA member, who best exemplifies the qualities of a mentor. Defined as a wise and trusted counselor or teacher, especially in occupational settings, Marilyn typified this description, in her skills in clinical direction and supervision. She was the Director of Speech Pathology services at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center (now Banner-University Health Center, Phoenix) from 1969-1991. She became a Fellow of ASHA. As a mentor to many during her career, it is hoped that this award will honor both her memory and the tradition she established.
SANDRA L. TUREK AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING LEADERSHIP
In memory of Sandra Turek, the purpose of this award is to recognize a member of ArSHA who has followed in the example of Sandra Turek, MS, CCC-A. Sandra was instrumental in achieving licensure for speech-language pathology and audiology in the state of Arizona even though she was exempt from the state licensure law as she was employed by the Carl T. Hayden Veterans’ Administration Medical Center, Phoenix. Sandra was very active in ASHA and was awarded the ASHA Fellow. She was dedicated to the betterment of the professions and to safeguarding the health, safety and welfare of the public. This award is open to all members of ArSHA who have demonstrated outstanding leadership in the professions of Audiology and/or Speech-Language pathology.
