ArSHA Advocacy Pays Off!

ArSHA has been hard at work to support the passage of two important bills this legislative session.  We are pleased to announce that both of these bills have passed the legislature and been signed into law by Governor Ducey.  HB 2454 makes permanent certain provisions of the current telehealth executive order and will allow for Audiologists, Speech-Language Pathologists, and Speech-Language Pathology Assistants to continue providing services via telehealth even after the health emergency ends.  A summary of the bill is available here: https://www.azleg.gov/legtext/55leg/1R/summary/S.2454FIN_ASPASSEDCOW.DOCX.htm .  Among other things, SB 1458 allows for more flexibility with SLPA supervision and includes telesupervision as a modality for SLPs to provide direct supervision of assistants.  A summary of SB 1458 is available here: https://www.azleg.gov/legtext/55leg/1R/summary/H.SB1458_042821_TRANSMITTED.DOCX.htm .  These are important changes to current law and we look forward to having them go into effect 90 days after the close of the legislative session.  Thank you to all of you who participated in advocating for these bills!
