- NSSLHA
- Overview
- NSSLHA is the National Student Speech-Language-Hearing Association which operates on a local and national level. There are over 340 chapters across the United States at universities offering degrees in Communication Sciences and Disorders. It is the only national student organization for pre-professionals in this field that is recognized by ASHA (American Speech-Language-Hearing Association). NSSLHA provides students with the tools they need to succeed in their academic careers while preparing for their pre-professional ones. Find out if your school has a chapter at https://www.nsslha.org/chapters/affiliated-chapters/. If not, learn how to launch a chapter at https://www.nsslha.org/chapters/start-a-new-chapter/
- Membership
- There are two ways you can be a member of NSSLHA. The first and most encouraged is at the local level at your university’s chapter. The majority of CSD programs in the US have a NSSLHA chapter. There is typically a small fee to participate, but that fee goes back to supporting the chapter. The second way to engage with NSSLHA is being a National NSSLHA member. This membership provides access to a variety of resources and opportunities only available to national members. The dues for this membership are $60 per year. Some chapters offer financial assistance with this cost, so be sure to check out what your school has to offer. Local chapter vice presidents and presidents must hold national NSSLHA membership, so that is another option to keep in mind.
