Abstract:
The AI tools many SLPs first learned to use are already evolving into something much more powerful. This session moves beyond AI 101 and basic prompting to explore how today’s platforms can research, organize, analyze, create, personalize, and increasingly complete multi-step work. Along the way, we will take a close look at the ethical questions that come with this power, including when to trust AI, when not to, how much responsibility should remain with the clinician, and what the growing use of AI means for privacy, energy consumption, and clinical excellence.
Learner Outcomes:
- Describe key AI concepts, capabilities, and energy considerations relevant to SLP practice.
- Identify appropriate uses of AI to support clinical and administrative tasks.
- Apply ethical safeguards and professional judgment when integrating AI into everyday SLP practice.
